She’s aging me exponentially

May 23, 2007

See this cute 17 month old daughter of mine? She’s been busy these last 2 weeks. She’s punched a 3 yr old boy in the nose and made him cry. She’s bitten me and her brother too many times to count. She’s eaten Play Doh, and drank green water that she was using to wash out the watercolor paint off her brush. She also tried opening the oven door, while I was baking!!! and she opened the back door and went outside. Without making a sound while I was in the kitchen cooking, and I thought she was in the family room playing. Now we keep our doors locked at all times because we have a in ground pool in the back. Yeah. She’s also teething again, so she wakes up every night screaming. She’s a gem.
But she really is lovable. When she’s sleeping.

OK, seriously. Who gave me this…

stomach bug? Huh? I want a name.
But first I need to drink some more blue Gatorade before my son hogs it all.

I’m here! I’m here! and 4 things meme

May 17, 2007

I wasn’t hiding, I swear!
The beautiful and lovely Cheeky picked me for a meme!!! My very first one!!! I thought I’d never get picked already! Thank you Cheeky.
Boy all you need is a meme to find out if you’re interesting. Every one that I’ve read has always been way cooler than anything I could come up with, but here goes:

4 jobs I’ve held:

  1. messenger at my mom’s work. First real job for me at age 14. This was before computers were considered a must. I went back and forth between 2 buildings 40 hours a week the entire summer. I was paid $3.25 per hour, so I was LOADED.
  2. hostess at Pizza Hut
  3. ice cream scooper. I make the best chocolate frappes.
  4. pharmacy technician

4 movies I can watch over and over:

  1. You’ve Got Mail
  2. Love Letter (really lame but adorable)
  3. The Sound Of Music (I know every song by heart!)
  4. anything with Cary Grant or Audrey Hepburn.

4 places I’ve lived:

  1. Brooklyn apartment until I was 7. You could see the Empire State Building from there, except that I always called it the Statue of Liberty. whoops.
  2. Long Island, New York (most of my life)
  3. two different apartments in Boston while I went to school.
  4. a beautiful old Victorian house with stained glass in my bedroom window. LOVE.

4 categories of TV programming I enjoy:

  1. Dateline (I love the murder mysteries the best)
  2. Discovery Health Channel
  3. HGTV (especially House Hunters)
  4. Lost! (that is so a category! It’s called non-fiction reality TV) what?

4 places I have been on holiday:

  1. St. Martin
  2. Florence
  3. Paris
  4. Vegas, baby!

4 of my favorite dishes:

  1. eggplant parmigiana!!! (in fact, it’s in the oven right now 🙂
  2. risotto with mushrooms and fontina cheese
  3. veal picatta
  4. turkey smothered in gravy

4 websites I visit daily:

  1. blog after blog after blog after blog
  2. google (Google it!)
  3. Carolyn’s Boards
  4. does hotmail count?

4 places I’d rather be right now:

  1. Montauk Point, laying on the beach there. It never gets too hot.
  2. story time at the library with my kids
  3. bike riding in Woods Hole
  4. laying on a very plush, white, terry cloth covered chaise lounge, on a beach in the Maldives Islands– under a bamboo made shade with someone fanning me, and a huge jug of cold iced tea made just for me. I would also be wearing a bikini and have a perfect size 6 body and my skin would smell like coconut. I like to dream big.

Now here is the part where I get to pick 4 other cool people to do this meme:

  1. Britt-Arnhild
  2. Corey
  3. Tori
  4. Jennifer

Bedtime conversation with my 3 year old

May 14, 2007

***Setting: his bedroom. He has 2 maps on his wall above his bed. One world map, and one US map.

Him: Mommy, who lives in Formula?

Me: Formula? you mean Florida?

Him: (he doesn’t look convinced)

Me: We don’t know anyone who lives in Florida. Mickey and Minnie live in Florida.

Him: No! (completely tired of me now because clearly I have no idea what I’m talking about)
Uncle Jon and Aunt Judy live in Formula!

Me: Oh! You mean California!

Him: Yeah! Cali-Formula!

***And I thought I was so smart.

Happy News on Mother’s Day!!

May 14, 2007

Yesterday was just an ordinary day around here because my husband had to work. That is until my youngest sister called and told me to call our other sister right away. She’s pregnant!
This will be her second child. She’s due in December around her son’s birthday. Her kids will be exactly 6 years apart.
I asked her what her son thought about having a sibling, and she said he screamed NO!!! but then calmed down and said that if it’s a boy they will keep it, but if it’s a girl, “then I just don’t know.”
Kinda glad my sister doesn’t let him make any important decisions.

***this pic was taken yesterday at my inlaws house. we went over for a late dinner. the kids were so tired from running around outside with their cousins. I love this picture because it looks like I forced them to sit with me, when actually I didn’t. Smiling takes energy.

Dreaded Update

May 9, 2007

Ok, I wish I had better news, but I did not win the stroller. They actually called me the day after I finished harassing them, and told me that someone from New Jersey won. Whatev’s. I don’t believe them. But it’s a good thing I don’t live in Pennsylvania where their offices are located. I would probably be doing drive by’s if I did.
Need to go lick my wounds now.

**good thing I don’t have anything with substance to complain about!

Lovin’ Lost, Sawyer, and blogs

May 5, 2007

I’ve been bored out of my mind at work today, so I used my time wisely and read blogs all day. Well I stumbled upon Rocks in My Dryer and I.LOVE.IT. Why? Because every week she writes a recap on Lost! That is the best show E-VA! And her write-ups are SO funny, I swear I’ve been cracking up at my computer reading everything. One girl I’m working with is my partner in crime, and she’s on another computer reading and laughing right now. Our co-orkers think we’re nuts.
Oh my goodness, if you love Lost, read her blog posts! She’s hysterical. I swear I might just add her to my side bar because that girl cracks me up. And she loves Sawyer, too!! He is so cute. Rob Lowe has been my “boyfriend” since I was 12, but I don’t know now. Love that Sawyer.

Great Morning May Day

May 1, 2007

We had a wonderful morning today. We visited a friend and her two small children. She lives by the beach so on our way home I stopped to take some pics of my kids. Unfortunately (for me) it was high tide and my son would not go anywhere near the water. Not even on the sand. So I had to take these pictures up by the embankment. If you look very closely you can see the ocean in the background. Don’t strain your eyes. I’ll try again next time.
Oh look, there’s water.

My daughter is holding my car keys. It was the only way I could keep her still.
